A few days ago Ken went out to get mail. He came back and put a yellow package envelope on my desk. I was surprised, as I haven’t ordered anything and didn’t expect any packages. However, the package has been addressed to me. Being very intrigued, I opened it.
The package was from Rings & Things company. Inside, I found many interesting things.
First, I found a letter which said: (click to enlarge)
Next, I found a beautiful business card demonstrating a great use of a layered jewelry blank 🙂
Then there was a handy little notebook with a pen and a wire gauge conversion chart on the back.
After that followed a cool ruler with various mm size circles tracing template.
And then I pulled out a big bag of goodies. It takes quite something to make me speechless, but that did it. I was just sitting there staring. Ken came up and asked if everything was OK 🙂 It took me a few attempts to answer his question.
To send a bag of supplies, all of which are pretty hot – just look at these babes! – without any definite hope of gaining anything on it, just like a kind gesture – well, that’s by itself is worth a lot.
Most of these blanks are double (layered), which makes them a perfect component to use in all kinds of layered pendants, such as lockets, neck books, and kaleidoscope pendants. And the narrow blanks can be used for Steampunk style rings, perfect width and everything. Not to mention the cool leather ribbon – tons of various very cool bracelets can be made out of it. I haven’t thought up as where to use the pink sequins yet, but I’m sure I’ll come up with an idea 🙂 And I think I’ll do better than just keeping all of these designs to myself – I will share them with all of you in the form of tutorials. So, be on the lookout! 🙂
Here is a closer look at some of these beautiful double jewelry blanks.
The heart (comes with a matching solid back, not shown here and is my favorite so far):
The keyhole (just think of all the Steampunk designs you can do with this sweet piece!):
Some of you might say – well, it’s just a marketing effort on the Rings & Things’ part. And I will answer – you can do your marketing in different ways. Some will insert their 2-minute commercial that you have to watch before getting to your favorite music video on YouTube. Others will send a lovely gift to make someone happy. Which way would you prefer to be treated? Yes, I know, I win at least few prestigious design contests every year, and that, perhaps, makes me some sort of a design celebrity. However, this is the first time in my life that I have come across a supplier willing to do things like this. Most of the others just wanted my money; some of them tried to be extremely rude and outright aggressive to me. If you follow my Facebook Page, you know who I am talking about.
It is the people who touch your heart willing to help you on your creative journey that you want to walk with. Make your own choices. I have made mine.
I want to say BIG THANK YOU!!! to Anne and Sondra, and all other wonderful people at Rings & Things company. You did make my day (and a few other days after that :))
This is a nice box of candy that I’m sending to these good people with a “thank you” card. But shhhh! don’t tell them. Let it be a surprise! Just like the one they gave me 🙂
