A few days ago with Ken we returned from a business trip to Pittsburgh, PA. We’ve met many people, seen many places, and, what’s important, tried many awesome foods! 🙂 I’ll post more details later.
Yesterday we went to a meeting of Alexandria Artists – a creative group which started as an Etsy team. It was our first meeting, and I made a sign for it – see the picture. It was fun and very informative, too, as we were exchanging our experiences as online stores owners. We met at La Madelaine, which is an awesome French cuisine place all by itself! 🙂 So, if you are a local artist or know someone who is, come join the next meeting which will be announced in the group forum.
Today I received a letter from the Bead&Button magazine that my piece, Sea Homes, has won the 3rd place in the 2012 Bead Dreams competition, Polymer Clay category. You can see the results here. Hooray! 😀 I am very glad and big thanks goes to the judges who picked me. It was a great fun to participate.
By the way, the voting is still open for The People’s Choice Award. If you think I should win this one too 🙂 or want to vote for outstanding work of other artists, you can do it here. Of course, you can also do it in person if you’re attending the Show! 🙂
A couple days ago we have also received a word that Ken’s entry, the Arabesque bracelet, has won the Metals category of the 2012 Bead Star contest. Congrats to Ken and big thanks to all who voted for us! We were asked to keep details a secret, so I won’t elaborate on it much right now :). As I was the one who taught Ken basic metalsmithing, I should probably pat myself on the back as a teacher :). I am very proud of Ken.
Among other news are the following:
– We opened Ken’s art photography store, Graydient Light. Now he can display his masterpieces without them getting mixed up with my jewelry :). If you like the store and his work, you’re more than welcome to “Like” us or follow us on Twitter! Thank you!
– I finally started writing my book, Travel Agency “Your Universe”. It is a science fiction. Or, maybe, non-science fiction :D. Anyway, I’ll do a little bit at a time, and when it’s ready, we will see what we have.
– I am working on preparing a free tutorial for you on polymer flowers – see the pictures of the flowers. Following the tute, making a lot of uniform flowers will be a breeze! 🙂 Of course I also sell the flowers in our store 🙂 – here and here. Among other tutorial projects is to help Ken to write one for his winning entry, as well as prepare a couple tutorials on hollow forms, which Polymer Cafe magazine tentatively agreed to publish. Will be fun! 🙂 By the way, the June 2012 issue was really good; if you haven’t gotten it yet, I recommend to do so.
Now I will stop – before this post turns into another book! 😀 I’d love it if you shared your news with me! Just post a comment.
I will see you next time!
